Sometimes when we watch a movie, or a TV Show, or listen to a radio program we tend to understand or hear just twenty five percent of what was said. So it's important to listen closely so we could understand what is being said.

Here are some tips for Active Listening

·Eliminate all distractions for you to be able to attentively listen to important information
·Give your undivided attention to the speaker
·Do not speak while there is someone speaking or do not do other things just focus on what is being said
·Patience and respect plays a big part in active listening. Lack of patience and respect is usually the reason why we are not able to digest what was said, because we are actually talking in our heads silently instead of listening to the one who is speaking.

·Look the speaker in the eye it usually gives you focus
·Practice writing down what you heard especially important facts and information, by doing this you'll be more alert and attentive to what is being said.
·Here is one activity that may help. Instead of watching TV turn your back and listen closely to what the actors are saying. This exercise will help you focus. Try it, it might work for you.


Important Tip

There are interviewers who will intentionally test your listening skills so be cautious and don't fall to the trap. Sometimes interviewers will intentionally lower the tone of their voice or will say a series of things and then will later on verify if you are attentively listening, so always listen closely.

There are also listening tests that you need to pass, they are sometimes bundled with the phone simulation tests so be careful. You need to listen carefully to everything that is thrown at you.
