Phone Interviews

You will never know when your phone would ring for an interview. Once you've submitted your resume to several contact centers you are almost certain that your phone will ring on the first business day after you submitted your credentials so be prepared for that vital phone interview.
Being prepared is the only way to make sure that you will pass the phone interview. If you've followed the tips and suggestions in the previous chapters it would be easy for you to ace the telephone interview.

Have you experienced going through a phone interview?

If answer is yes that's great, you at least have an idea of what they will ask you over the phone.
But if you don't have any phone interview experience don't worry I will list down some of the most common questions you might encounter during a phone interview.
Here are a few questions you may encounter during a phone interview:

·Describe yourself
·What do you know about our company?
·What is a call center?
·Do you have any call center experience?
·What was your previous job?
·What makes you qualified to be a call center agent?

Prepare yourself with the above questions, you'll never know one of these questions might be thrown at you. There are a lot of other questions that they may ask you during the phone interview. But the bottom line is for you to be prepared and to answer the questions the best way that you can.

Phone interviews are unannounced and usually happens at the time you are not ready, so follow these useful tips:

·Always have a notepad and a pen handy
·Your notepad should contain important info about your self. This information need not be in a form of a sentences, you may just have bulleted information jotted down.

Here is an example:
Works well with others
A team player
But could also work independently
Can work under pressure

If you have some information about yourself readily available you could easily collect your thoughts in order to answer the questions thrown at you confidently. By the way the above info could be used if the interviewer asks you to describe yourself.
·Of course you have to speak in English while you are being interviewed. One Filipino word uttered during a phone interview might be reason enough for the interviewer not to consider you for the next stage of the hiring processes.

·Use your notepad to write down the name of the person who called you up. You should also take note of the name of the company, their address and phone number.
·Sometimes it's really hard to focus when you get a phone interview so in order to collect your thoughts when someone calls you for an interview you could ask the interviewer if he could wait for a moment while you close the door or while you go to a quite place of your house (for mobile calls). Or If your TV or radio is on, you may also ask permission to turn off the said appliance. This buys you time to organize your thoughts in order to give good answers to the interviewer.

Important Tip

Speak in a loud clear voice, you only have one chance to give a good impression so make the most out of it. Speak clearly on the telephone handset so that the interviewer won't have to ask you to repeat what you just said. Speak loud enough but do not shout, you don't want to give the wrong impression. While being interviewed on the phone you should smile. Smiling while talking to the interviewer will give an impression that you are a pleasant and good mannered person, so smile.
