Speak in English

For most of us, speaking in English do not come naturally because our native tongue is another Dialect, but it should not hinder you to speak in English. This challenge must be faced head on. Promise yourself that you will speak in English wherever you are from now on. I know it's not easy but you have to do it. Because practicing to speak in English is the only way you can be conversant enough to pass the call center English proficiency screening.

Here is what you should do:

·Practice speaking in English at home. I know it may be awkward at first but you have to do it. Advise your relatives that you are doing it to practice your English. More often than not, they will readily participate in your English speaking campaign.

·When you're in the mall or in public places, practice speaking in English. When asking for something or buying something, speak in English. It's easier to practice your English with someone you don't know because they will not laugh at you or criticize you on the spot. You'll be surprised at how some people react. Some people will simply smile at you, while some will try to reply in English the best way they can, and sometimes you may even be fortunate to talk to someone who has a good command of the English language.

When you encounter someone who speaks good English don't be intimidated, learn from him or her and go on talking in English if the situation permits.

Spontaneity is essential in speaking the English Language, and in order for you to be spontaneous, you have to think in English and in order to do that you have to practice all the time.

You don't have to use complicated words, the simpler the words you'll use the better.

When someone calls you on the phone, answer in English, it's another way to practice speaking in English. It may be a simple “May I know who's calling please…” as long as you practice speaking in English, that's fine.

Look for people who could help you practice speaking in English on the phone. Ask a friend or a relative to be your partner.
Find a native English speaker and talk to him or her often to practice your English conversational skills. Nothing beats practicing with a native English speaker.

Think in English

For some of us, thinking in English is easy, specially those who were born and raised in the US or in an English speaking environment. But for most non English speakers, it's a struggle to think in English because we've been breathing and thinking in our native tongue all our lives. That's understandable and absolutely fine, but since you want to work for a contact center, you need to force yourself to think in English. This means you need to think in English wherever you are. Your thoughts should be in English because that's the only way to learn the language.

Always keep your thoughts in check. If you find yourself thinking in your native tongue revert your thoughts immediately back to English. Of course nobody will know that you are not doing it, but if you want to learn faster and speak fluent English, stick to thinking in English no matter what happens. If you do this you will surely be speaking in English in no time.

Remember that your brain is like an advance computer, it can process a lot of information in a short period of time. So like the computer, you have to program your brain to think in English day in and day out in order for you to achieve your goal of speaking perfect English.

Start doing these things and you will surely be thinking in English in no time:

When you wake up in the morning start your day by thinking in English.

While fixing your room, preparing to take a shower, eating, watching TV, or when doing just about anything always think in English.

If you go out in the mall, in school, in the office, in the supermarket always remember to think in English.

When you're alone doing nothing, keep your thoughts strictly in English.

If you're happy think in English, when you're sad think in English. If you're angry get angry in English. If you feel like cursing, say it in English.
Write a sign in your room that says “EOP” which means “English Only Policy”.
